Lee's Mission

Lee's Insight

I'm sorry that I have not written for a while. The end of 2009 was an introspective time for me. I lost my Dad last year and I personally reached a new milestone in my life, a new decade. These events were catalysts for me to re-evaluate my life. My husband noticed that I was in a transition phase, so he handed me a book that he thought I would resonate with - The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma. This book was exactly what I needed to read at this point in my life! In many ways, the philosophy presented in the book mirrored the way I live my life and reinforced many of my values. In particular, the book points out that the purpose of life is to live a life of purpose and that we all have a life mission that we need to discover.

Sharma's tale of the monk encouraged me to share more openly how I view my life's mission of teaching consciousness. We are living in a world where many people are unconscious. Modern day technologies such as TV, cell phones, PDA's and iPods encourage us to tune out, rather than in. We see people tuning out in the streets, in their cars, in the subway, in the gym... Tuning out is the norm of American life today! What is the cost of tuning out? Why does it matter if we tune in or out? What's the benefit of tuning in?

As a teacher of consciousness, my goal is to help people tune in, be present and make conscious choices so that they can live a truly purposeful life - one of deep meaning and personal satisfaction - a life of few regrets. For many years I have used the Enneagram, a powerful and very accessible tool, to teach individuals to become more self-aware and conscious of their behavior. Self-awareness and awareness of how we impact others are the hallmarks of emotional intelligence. Developing emotional intelligence is critical for people who desire to become great leaders, successful business people, world-class professionals or successful in their personal family life. The Enneagram is the system that helped me transform my own life 28 years ago, and my life has not been the same since. This sophisticated system is learned in layers and has led me to amazing self-discovery. I love my life and live each day to the fullest. To quote my Dad, who lived a successful, wonderful life to the ripe old age of 98, "Life is a gift. Every day I get up is a great day!"
